Terms of Service

1. About Verith

Verith is a software platform that helps venue operators prepare and document their Public Protection Procedures in anticipation of the duties under the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 ("Martyn's Law").

By creating an account and using Verith, you agree to these terms.

2. Guidance only — not legal advice

Verith provides a structured tool to help you record and organise your venue's emergency procedures. Verith does not provide legal advice. Nothing on this platform constitutes a formal assessment of your compliance with the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 or any other legislation.

We make no guarantee that a PPP produced using Verith will satisfy the requirements of any regulatory body, inspector, or court. You are solely responsible for ensuring your venue meets its legal obligations. If in doubt, seek independent legal or security advice.

Martyn's Law sets different duties depending on the size and type of premises or event (broadly, a "standard duty" and an "enhanced duty"), and the Security Industry Authority (SIA) is the regulator. Verith helps you prepare and record your procedures; it does not determine which tier applies to you, whether you are in scope, or what the SIA's published guidance requires of you. Confirming that is your responsibility.

3. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • The accuracy and completeness of all information you enter into Verith
  • Keeping your account credentials secure
  • Ensuring your PPP reflects the actual procedures in place at your venue
  • Reviewing and updating your PPP when your venue, staffing, or procedures change
  • Conducting your own walkarounds, drills, and staff training — Verith records these activities but does not verify them

4. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Verith and its operator shall not be liable for:

  • Any inaccuracy or incompleteness in a PPP produced using the platform
  • Any regulatory action, fine, or enforcement taken against you or your venue
  • Any loss, injury, or damage arising from an incident at your venue, except to the extent such liability cannot lawfully be excluded
  • Any loss of data due to technical failure
  • Any indirect, consequential, or economic loss of any kind

Our total liability to you in any circumstances is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

5. Trial and subscription

New accounts receive a 14-day free trial with full access to the platform. No payment details are required to start a trial.

Downloading or exporting your PPP as a PDF requires an active paid subscription. The 14-day free trial includes full access to the platform except PDF export. You may use the free tier to record walkarounds, training, and drills, but PDF export is a paid feature.

If you cancel, your access — including PDF export — continues until the end of your current paid billing period; we do not refund partial periods. After that period ends, PDF export is disabled until you resubscribe. Your data is retained and your PPP becomes exportable again on resubscription.

If we discontinue the service, we will give you at least 30 days from notice to export your PPP as a PDF, regardless of subscription status.

Separately, you may request a copy of the personal data you have entered (e.g. staff and contact details) at any time, free of charge, in line with your data protection rights and our Privacy Policy. This is provided as a data export and is distinct from the formatted PPP document.

6. Data and privacy

We store the information you enter in order to provide the service. We do not sell your data to third parties.

Where your data is held. The Verith application and database are hosted on Render, which runs on Amazon Web Services (AWS), in the EU (Frankfurt) region; uploaded images are stored in AWS S3; payments are processed by Stripe. We use these providers as sub-processors. Because your data is held within the EEA, no international transfer safeguards are required for UK users. Our Privacy Policy lists all sub-processors in full.

Security. Your database content — including venue procedures, staff names, and emergency contact details — is encrypted at rest (AES-256) and in transit (TLS). Uploaded files are stored in private, encrypted storage and served via time-limited signed URLs.

Sensitivity. A PPP describes a venue's emergency response and may identify vulnerabilities. We treat this content as sensitive and restrict internal access accordingly.

Deletion. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us. We will delete your data from our live systems promptly. Copies may remain in routine encrypted backups for up to 7 days; during that time the data is isolated from active use and is not restored, and it is permanently overwritten as backups are rotated in the normal course.

7. Intellectual property

The Verith platform, including its software, design, and content, is owned by Verith and protected by copyright. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of it without permission.

The content you enter into Verith (your venue details, procedures, and records) remains yours. We claim no ownership over it.

8. Changes to the service and these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We'll notify you by email of any material changes. Continued use of Verith after notice constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time. Where reasonably practicable we'll give advance notice.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
